Education, work history and certification (licensing) verification are all very similar in that our objective is to determine if the person being screened actually has achieved what they tell you. It is unfortunate that many people exaggerate their background in order to obtain a better job or higher salary. This is far more common than most people realize.
How will you know if a person you assume to be honest actually has the work experience listed on his resume? How will you know if a person has a degree or license unless you check? How many times have you read or seen a news story about an executive or politician that claims to have a specific degree or experience but in fact does not?
This is plain and simple fraud and most companies don’t want someone
working for them that “exaggerates” the truth.
